BIOGRAPHICAL SUMMARY Gary E. Perlmuter earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, 1989. Thereafter, Mr. Perlmuter earned a J.D, Cum Laude, from Wayne State University Law School, 1992. Mr. Perlmuter served as a member of the Wayne Law Review from 1990-1992, where he was elected a Note and Comment Editor from 1991-1992. While on law review, Mr. Perlmuter authored a Note entitled “Excluding an Accessory After The Fact From A Felony – Firearm Conviction,” Vol. 37:4 Wayne L. Rev., published in the Wayne Law Review. Following graduation, Mr. Perlmuter joined the Metropolitan Detroit law firm of Maddin, Hauser, Wartell, Roth & Heller, P.C., as an associate attorney, where he gained his initial business law, real estate law and commercial litigation experience. Thereafter, while at Asker, Clos & Perlmuter, P.C. for over eleven years, both as an associate attorney and a shareholder, Mr. Perlmuter fine tuned his legal skills and focused his practice primarily on business law, construction law, real estate law and software licensing. Mr. Perlmuter was recruited to join the law firm of Foster, Swift, Collins & Smith, P.C. in 2007, where he served as a shareholder for two years, focusing on the expansion of his client base and the specialties of software licensing, IT law, business law and construction law. Mr. Perlmuter left Foster Swift in 2009 to form his own law firm with Paul P. Asker, his long-time partner and fellow practitioner for over seventeen years. Asker Perlmuter, PLC opened its doors in March of 2009, with the goal of continuously serving clients in a timely and efficient manner, while performing perfect work.
In the course of representing his clients in software licensing and IT law, Mr. Perlmuter has created, drafted and negotiated a plethora of complex digital distribution agreements, software development kit licenses and affiliate agreements, as well as software development, licensing, distribution and publishing contracts. He has represented his clients in transactions, disputes and contract matters involving some of the world’s largest computer, software and IT companies, negotiating and working with in-house counsel or outside counsel for the following businesses in the course of serving his clients: 2KGames, Alienware Inc., Atari Europe S.A.S.U.
